This linux server is fairly new, I use it only as a lan server.
Im not so sure there is a probably with my conf file as there maybe something blocking the port it uses. Thanks in advance, Boyd Here is all pid=/var/run/protocol=dyndns2 use=if, if=eth0 server=members.login=xxxx password=xxx xxxx.Silly question: Did you read the README file in the package?I tried to configure it based on the web help (ddclient.sourceforge.net) and really screwed it up the first time.Click Here to receive this Complete Guide absolutely free.I have ddclient configured to use dyns.org, but for some reason it is not updating if my new ip addresses? This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant.

TL; DR Is there anything I can do to change iptables from ddclient (with user ddclient)?
The story behind I have a computer that uses dyndns to be addressable from outside.
So I inserted this into my ddclient config: I dislike the idea to run ddclient as root.
One idea I had so far was a process running as root, that listens on a socket for the new ip and then triggers the changes on iptables. 1) Login as root and run visudo 2) Add a line which looks like: bob ALL = (ALL) NOPASSWD: /etc/ddclient/where "bob" is the account which ddclient is run from (you'll likely need to experiment).
Up to now I had an hourly cron job that would work like this to hold iptables up to date: Now hourly updates meant, that there could be an hour delay where iptables is configured with the wrong address.
